Notary Service Disclaimer
Legal Advice and UPL Notice
I am not an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California or any other state. I am not allowed to draft legal documents, give advice on legal matters, including immigration, or charge a fee for those activities. Any information provided by Dot & Dash Mobile Notary is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal or professional advice. If you require legal assistance, please consult with a qualified attorney.
Identification Requirements
All signers must present a valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification at the time of notarization. Acceptable forms of ID include a state-issued driver's license, state identification card, or a U.S. passport. The name as recorded on the document must substantially match the name on the identification provided. Failure to provide acceptable identification will result in a refusal of service and a travel fee will still be applicable.
Signer Capacity and Presence
For all notarizations, the signer must be physically present before the notary at the time of the act. The signer must also be alert, coherent, and exhibit an understanding of the document they are executing. Dot & Dash Mobile Notary reserves the right to decline service if the signer appears confused, lacks mental capacity, or appears to be acting under duress. Notaries cannot advise signers on the contents of the documents.
Travel and convenience Fees
California law establishes statutory notary fees per signature. Travel fees, convenience fees, and surcharges for after-hours or emergency services are separate from notary fees and are agreed upon when the appointment is scheduled. All fees are due at the time of service regardless of whether the notarization is completed due to issues with identification, signer capacity, or if the signer chooses not to proceed after the notary arrives.
